Important billing update
There’s no paywall and subscriptions are now donations. Billing resumes on Monday.
Hi there,
I mentioned previously that Energy Flux is now free to read. There is no longer a paywall on new posts, and the newsletter is shifting to a donations-based funding model. Paid subscriptions are now considered recurring donations.
Billing will resume on Monday 16th January. Your existing ‘subscription’ will continue from where it left off, and upon expiry it will renew automatically at the same rate — unless you decide to cancel (no hard feelings if you do).
If you would prefer to donate a smaller amount, please let me know. I’m happy to set up bespoke recurring or one-off donations, no matter how small. Just hit reply to this email.
I previously offered pro-rated refunds on the unspent portion of subscriptions. This offer will remain valid until billing resumes. I will honour any refund requests received until 16th January (email me before then).
A lot has changed for me personally and in the energy world since I paused billing several months ago. But my desire to keep writing freely about energy markets and the economics of decarbonisation burns as strongly as ever.
Energy Flux will continue as a ‘passion project’ produced outside of work and family hours, mostly at night when the words and ideas flow. I hope you will stay with me for the journey. Every ‘like’, comment and donation keeps me burning the midnight oil to bring you more insightful and honest data-driven analysis.
There is a fair bit of overlap between Energy Flux and my written work for TransitionZero. I will repost some of my TZ blogs here, and I’ll also write original pieces when time allows. I’m aiming for at least once a month, but there is no firm publishing schedule.
I have been buoyed by the very small number of refund requests received so far. I sincerely hope to keep weaving original narratives that you love reading and want to support.
Regardless of whether you keep donating, I have one thing to say: thank you for reading. Long may that continue.
Wishing everyone a prosperous and energetic new year!
Seb
